Quillx

A studio for writers

Finish the book, the series, the memoir, the thesis.

Quillx is the studio where a manuscript goes from first outline to the storefront. Draft it on a page that stays out of the way. Map it. Keep the canon straight across a whole series. Then export the exact files the stores accept.

Chapter 1 · Fog open in the Quillx editor, with the Binder outline beside it

Most writing apps are a page with a word count. Quillx is a studio. A Binder for the structure, a Story Map for the shape, a Series Bible for the canon, Quill for the hard questions, and a Publishing Hub for the way out the door. One place, from the first line to the shelf.

The studio

Five rooms. One manuscript.

Every screen below is the real product, not a rendering. Scroll, and the stage follows the chapter you are reading.

  1. 01 · The Studio

Every book, every series, today's words.

Open Quillx and the studio is already laid out: your series, your standalone projects, your streak and the day's count. It is a shelf, not a settings page.

The Quillx Studio: a series card, a standalone project, and today's word count and streak
  2. 02 · The Page

A page that stays out of the way.

Warm paper, a serif you'd choose on purpose, and the Binder beside it: parts, chapters and scenes you drag into order. It saves as you type, and Book Mode shows the pages the way a reader will see them.

Chapter 1 · Fog open in the Quillx editor with the Binder outline on the left
  3. 03 · The Story Map

The shape of the story, on one canvas.

Characters, locations, scenes, events, relationships, plot threads, themes and types of your own, as cards you connect and drag into place. An inspector holds the details; the Timeline puts the scenes in order.

The Story Map: character, scene, location and theme cards connected on a canvas
  4. 04 · The Series Bible

Canon that holds across every book.

Group a series and its characters, places, glossary, timeline, notes and style rules live in one bible shared by every spine. Lock an entry as canon and it stays until someone unlocks it.

The Series Bible overlay with two character entries, one marked as locked canon
  5. 05 · Publishing

    From manuscript to storefront.

Six export formats, a print check against KDP's interior rules, launch kits for six stores, a cover studio, ARC copies, submissions and an audiobook script. One Publishing view, five tabs.

Two sessions side by side: Chapter 3 · Boats on the left, Chapter 1 · Fog on the right

Chapter three, beside chapter one.

Split the studio into up to three sessions side by side on a wide screen, each with its own place in the outline and its own Quill thread.

The streak.

Daily, weekly and monthly goals, streaks and nineteen badges, counted as you write and shown on the shelf.

Collaboration · included with Plus

Bring your editor. Bring your co-author.

Invite anyone to a project by email. They open the same Binder, the same chapters and the same Story Map you do, and every change they make shows up for you as it is saved.

Collaboration is unlocked by the project owner's plan. The people you invite need a Quillx account on any plan, and Personal is enough; joining your project costs them nothing extra.

Roles, not a free-for-all
Invite someone as an Editor or a Viewer. The owner decides who can view, edit, comment, use Quill, export, invite and change settings. Link sharing can be off, view-only, comment or edit.
Comments on the passage
Select a sentence and leave a note on it. Threads can be answered, resolved and searched, and an @mention tells the right person.
Tasks with owners
Give a task a priority, a due date, an assignee and subtasks, and tie it to a part, a chapter or a scene, so "fix the timeline in chapter three" lives next to chapter three.

Quill · included with Pro

A second reader who has read exactly the chapters you hand it.

Point Quill at the chapters or bible sections you are working on and ask what a careful reader would: whether the timeline holds, where a scene drags, what a character would never say. It answers from your pages, not from a summary of them.

Quill is an editor and a teacher, never a ghostwriter. It proofreads, checks consistency, gives feedback and explains the craft, and every word of the book stays yours.

The Quill button sits top right of every page and opens a thread beside the chapter.

It never writes your book
No drafting, continuing or rewriting, and no blurbs. The proofreading corrections Quill proposes wait for your approval, one by one.
Claude and GPT, built in
Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Haiku 4.5; GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra and Luna. Called directly, with no API keys to manage.
Personas, Skills and roles
Four original reader personas, thirteen built-in roles from developmental editor to sensitivity reader, skills you write yourself, and custom roles.
1,000 AI credits a month
A credit is one cent of model usage at the providers' list prices; a short reply costs under two. Top-ups are 500 credits for $9.99 plus tax.

Quillx never trains models on your writing, and our Anthropic and OpenAI accounts have training data sharing switched off. Quill tells you it is an AI, and it can be wrong.

Publishing Hub

Ready for the storefront.

Retail platforms don't offer publishing APIs, so Quillx does the next best thing: it prepares exactly the files and metadata each store asks for, checks them, and deep-links you to the upload page.

The export review step: book details, a KDP print check, and the export button
The review step checks margins, gutter and page count against KDP's interior rules.

Built for the long book

Yours, always.

Export every format at any time. No proprietary file, no lock-in, no waiting.

Private by design.

Every project is protected by row-level security in the database. Only you and the people you invite can open it.

Never trained on.

Quillx does not train AI models on your writing, and training data sharing is switched off at both providers.

Written by you.

Quill never writes your book. It proofreads, asks and teaches; every word on the page is yours, and every correction waits for your yes.

Collaboration features are unlocked by the project owner's plan; invited writers and editors need their own plan, and Personal is enough. AI credits are Pro's monthly allowance. One credit is one cent of model usage at the providers' list prices, and top-ups are $9.99 for 500, plus applicable tax.

Fair questions

Before you decide.

Straight answers to the things writers ask us before they start. Anything else: support@quillx.co.

Do I need to install anything?
No. Quillx runs in any modern browser and saves as you type. If your connection drops, it keeps retrying, and a recovery copy of your draft is held on your device until the save goes through.
What happens when the trial ends?
The trial is 14 days on the Personal plan and asks for a card up front. On day 15 the card is charged $9.99 plus applicable tax for the first month unless you cancelled before then. Cancel any time from Profile → Plan & billing in the Quillx app and you won’t be charged. Switching to Plus or Pro during the trial ends the trial and starts the paid plan that day. Each account can use the trial once.
Which AI models are included, and is there a limit?
Pro includes Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Haiku 4.5 from Anthropic and GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna from OpenAI, called directly, with no API keys to manage. Pro comes with 1,000 AI credits each billing month; a credit is one cent of model usage at the providers' list prices, and a typical short chat reply costs under two (replies with more context cost more). Top-ups are 500 credits for $9.99 plus applicable tax.
Will the AI write my book?
No. Quill never writes your book: not chapters, not scenes, not your blurb or query letter. It proofreads, checks consistency, gives feedback, answers questions about your manuscript and teaches the craft and the industry's standards. The corrections it proposes (spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency) wait in a review queue until you approve each one.
Do you train AI on my manuscript?
No. Quillx doesn't train AI models on your writing, and our Anthropic and OpenAI accounts have data sharing for training switched off. Your text is sent to them only to answer your Quill requests; they may keep it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. Quill tells you it's an AI and can be wrong.
Can I invite my editor on Personal?
Collaboration, comments, and tasks unlock with Plus on the project owner's account. Your editor needs their own Quillx plan (Personal is enough); joining your project costs you nothing extra.
Is my manuscript private?
Yes. Projects are protected by row-level security in the database, so only you and the people you invite can open them. Payments run through Stripe.
Can I get my work out?
Anytime. Print-ready PDF, EPUB 3, Word, Shunn-standard manuscript, Markdown, or plain text, plus ONIX metadata and platform launch kits from the Publishing Hub.
